Mohamad Nawar Al-Awa

Mohamad Nawar Al-Awa holds a PhD, Master’s, and Engineering degree in Computer Engineering from the National Polytechnic Institute of Grenoble (INPG), France.

Regional Advisor on Technology for Development at UN-ESCWA.
With over 25 years of professional, academic, and research experience, he focuses on digital and emerging technologies for sustainable development.

Before joining ESCWA, he served as:

• UNDP Adviser on Government Services Reform Project
• Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology Engineering, Damascus University
• Editor-in-Chief of Damascus University Journal for Engineering Sciences

Since 2023, he has been a corresponding member of the Arab Academy in Damascus.
